William castle LOVED this genre,
and wanted films to have a fun gimmick, as well as
being spooky but not at the expense
of having a good time...and he did fantastic!

In "Mr. Sardonicus" the film took a moment while Mr. Castle
showed up on the screen and asked the audience to vote:
mercy-or-justice for Mr. Sardonicus?
(of course knowing the crowd wanted justice)
And you held up your "punishment poll"
which he then seemed to count and announced that
YOU-the audience, have decided: Punishment!

"The Tingler" was filmed in "Percepto!"
And a simple effect like a vibrating buzzer
was placed under selected seats that
would freak the person out when the Tingler got "loose"
in the theatre!

For 13 Ghosts, he gave out "ghostviewers".
The way the movie was filmed, if you wanted to
see the ghost, you looked thru the red, and,
thru the blue, if you were too scared!

*The following images are more from Mr. Castle, and all his stuff is now
out on DVD. I hope you'll pick them up, as the special features
sections have tons of stuff on his promo tricks and stunts!
